I have been a CTE instructor, assistant principal, and now an assistant director. Our school is focused on listening to our business partners and adapting our programs to their needs. This way, when a student leaves us, they are better prepared to enter the workforce.
We have developed partnerships with Banks Construction Company of Charleston, a paving and grading contractor, who provides instructors for the actual equipment operation in the quarry. We also have Jimmy Austin of Austin Construction who owns a 130 acre active quarry where the students operate the actual equipment.
Blanchard Caterpillar Company is also a partner who provides us with the equipment. I will go into detail as to how we developed these partnerships and cost associated with them along with what we do to place our students in companies as direct hire or in apprenticeships.
We have over 130 business partners in our school advisory group who come to two of our career fairs to seek out qualified applicants to work.
